Home charging

Charge overnight on your own driveway, at a fraction of the price of a public charger.

A wall-mounted charger on a dedicated circuit is the safest and fastest way to charge at home. We look at your switchboard, your supply (single or three-phase) and where you park, then recommend a charger that suits your car and can work with solar if you have it. Most home installs are done in a day.

Charging a fleet or offering staff and visitor charging is a supply problem before it's a charger problem. We start with your site's distribution map and available capacity, then design a bank of chargers with load management that shares the supply between vehicles. Networked chargers give you access control, usage reporting and billing if you want to charge for power.

Apartments and body corporate

A plan that lets residents add chargers over time without overloading the building.

Apartment buildings need a decision by the owners corporation, an assessment of the building's supply, and a fair way to meter and bill each user. We work with building managers and committees on a design that reserves capacity, sets the standard for how chargers connect, and lets each resident install when they're ready.

Charger maintenance and repairs

A charger that's down is a bay nobody can use. We keep commercial fleets running under a scheduled agreement.

Preventative maintenance agreements

Scheduled visits covering inspection of the unit, cable and connector condition, protection and earth testing, firmware and network checks, and a report after each visit. Currently looking after Schneider EVlink Pro AC units among others.

Fault-finding and repairs

Chargers that won't start, drop out, show errors or have damaged cables or connectors, whoever installed them.

Thermal imaging

Charger supply boards and terminations included in your thermal imaging survey, since chargers run at high load for hours at a time.

Records

Test results and service history kept per charger, for your facilities file and your insurer.

What people ask before they install a charger at home or at work.

What size EV charger should I get at home?

Most homes are best served by a 7 kW single-phase charger, which adds around 40 km of range per hour and fully charges most cars overnight. If you have three-phase supply, an 11 or 22 kW charger is an option, but it only helps if your car can accept that rate. We check your supply and switchboard first and recommend the fastest charger your home can actually support.

Can my switchboard handle an EV charger?

Often, but not always. A charger is one of the largest loads in a house, and older boards without RCD protection or with limited capacity need upgrading first. We assess this before quoting so there are no surprises, and we can fit a charger with dynamic load management that throttles back when the rest of the house is drawing heavily. Can the charger use my solar?

Yes. Many chargers can be set to charge from excess solar only, or to prioritise solar and top up from the grid at a set time. If you have or are planning solar, tell us and we'll pick a charger that works with it.

How do you install chargers for a workplace or fleet?

We start with the site's supply capacity and distribution map, then design a bank of chargers with load management so several vehicles can share the available supply without tripping the main switch. Chargers can be networked for access control, usage reporting and billing. We install, commission and can maintain them under a service agreement.

Can you install EV charging in an apartment car park?

Yes. Apartment charging needs an owners corporation decision, a look at the building's supply, and a way to meter and bill each user. We work with body corporates and building managers on a design that lets residents install chargers over time without overloading the building.

Do you service and repair existing chargers?

Yes. We maintain commercial charger fleets, including Schneider EVlink units, under scheduled agreements covering inspection, firmware, connector and cable condition, protection testing and reporting, and we fault-find and repair chargers that have stopped working, whoever installed them.

Are you licensed to install EV chargers?

Yes. My Electrical Services Pty Ltd is a Registered Electrical Contractor in Victoria (REC 20716). Every charger is installed by a licensed electrician on a dedicated, protected circuit and a Certificate of Electrical Safety is issued.
