PIXIE Certified Installer
An Australian smart home system, designed for Australian wiring, that you can grow one room at a time.
PIXIE by SAL is our go-to for smart lighting. The switches and dimmers fit behind most standard Australian wall plates, so there's no rewiring and no plaster work in most homes. The devices talk to each other over Bluetooth mesh, the wall switches still work like switches, and the free PIXIE app lets you set scenes, group rooms, dim, schedule and set timers. Add a PIXIE Gateway and you get control from anywhere plus Google Home and Amazon Alexa voice control.

Most people don't want a control room. They want the outdoor lights on at sunset, the blinds down when the afternoon sun hits, the garage door and the entry lights on one button when they pull in, and one press on the way to bed that shuts the house down. We set up scenes and schedules that suit how your family actually uses the place.

Offices, shops and commercial spaces
Lighting that switches itself off is the cheapest energy saving there is.
For offices, shops, clinics, common areas and small industrial sites we use schedules, sensors and timers so lighting only runs when the space is in use. PIXIE is rated for commercial interiors, and for larger sites we design control around sensors, time clocks and contactors on the switchboard. It sits neatly inside a facilities maintenance program.

Walk-through
We look at what you want to control, what's on each circuit, where the panels should go and whether your switchboard needs RCD protection or extra circuits first.
Design
A device and panel list room by room, priced so you can do it all at once or start with the rooms that matter most and add the rest later.
Install and commission
Licensed electricians fit the devices, build the network, program the scenes and schedules and walk you through the panels and the app. A Certificate of Electrical Safety is issued for the work.
Support
Changes, additions and troubleshooting after the install, and firmware and device checks as part of a maintenance visit if you want them.

What is PIXIE?
PIXIE is an Australian smart home system made by SAL. It's a range of smart switches, dimmers, LED strip controllers, fan controllers, timers and sensors that talk to each other over Bluetooth mesh and fit into standard Australian wall plates. You control them from the free PIXIE app, and with a PIXIE Gateway you can add remote access and voice control through Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
Do I need to rewire my house for smart lighting?
No. PIXIE devices are designed for Australian wiring practice and replace the switch mechanism behind your existing wall plate, so most homes can be upgraded without new cabling or plaster work. Multi-way switching is handled wirelessly, which often means fewer cables than a conventional install.
Does it need Wi-Fi to work?
Not for everyday use. The devices form their own Bluetooth mesh and the wall switches keep working like normal switches, so nothing stops if your internet drops out. A PIXIE Gateway on your Wi-Fi is only needed if you want to control things from outside the house or use voice assistants.
Can I start with a few rooms and add more later?
Yes. That's one of the reasons we recommend PIXIE. You can start with a living room or a few dimmers and add devices as budget allows. Each gateway supports up to 128 devices, so a whole house can be built up over time.
Can you do this in an office, shop or warehouse?
Yes. PIXIE is rated for commercial interiors, and schedules, timers and sensors are an easy way to cut lighting costs in offices, shops, clinics and common areas. For larger commercial and industrial sites we also design lighting control around sensors, timers and contactors, and can tie it into a facilities maintenance program.
Can you automate more than lights?
Yes. Blinds and curtains, garage doors and gates, ceiling and exhaust fans, ducted aircon zones, pool pumps and heaters, irrigation and outdoor lighting can all be brought into the same system, with a scene on a wall panel or a tap on your phone driving several of them at once.
Which apps and voice assistants does it work with?
PIXIE runs from the free PIXIE app, and with a gateway works with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. We also set up Apple Home, Google Home and other platforms for the devices that support them, so you can run the house from a wall panel, a tablet on the wall, your phone or your voice.
Why use a PIXIE Certified Installer?
PIXIE devices must be installed by a licensed electrician, and getting the most out of the system depends on choosing the right device for each load and setting up the mesh, scenes and schedules properly. As a PIXIE Certified Installer and Registered Electrical Contractor (REC 20716) we do the electrical work, commission the app for you, and issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety.
